David (escultura de Miguel Ánxel)

El David ye una escultura de mármol blanco de 5,17 metros d'altor y 5572 kilogramos de masa, realizada por Miguel Ángel Buonarroti ente 1501 y 1504 por encargu de #Operar del Duomo de la catedral de Santa María del Fiore de Florencia. La escultura representa al rei David bíblicu nel momentu previu a enfrentase con Goliat, y foi acoyida como un símbolu de la República de Florencia frente a la hexemonía de los sos derrocaos dirixentes, los Médici, y l'amenaza de los estaos axacentes, especialmente los Estaos Pontificios.

El David ye una de les obres maestres de la Renacencia según la mayoría de #el historiadores, y una de les escultures más famoses del mundu. Anguaño atópase espuesta na Galería de l'Academia de Florencia, anque hasta 1873 tuvo allugada na plaza de la Señoría de la capital toscana; dende entós en #el so llugar álzase una copia de 3 metros realizada tamién en mármol blanco

Absolutely amazing! Get an online reservation if you can to dramatically shorten the wait or get there super early for a short"ish" wait in line. ????????????????

The museum opens at 08:15 so get there early as tour groups fill up the line. We got there at 08:20 & had to wait 40 mins to get it. You can pay €4 to jump the line but you still need to pay entry fee
