Impressive monastic site in the centre of Ireland overlooking the River Shannon. Lots of religious buildings to explore. Attacked many times by the Irish, Vikings and Normans.

6th Century monastery ruins. Definitely worth a visit. Take a good raincoat and waterproof shoes. A nominal entrance fee buys you access to the audio visual display, museum & site.

Unique, step back 1500 years in history. Burial site of the high Kings of Ireland. Home to the original celiac crosses. The lost city of clonmacnoise is a treasure that will stay with you..

Ein ehrwürdiger Ort zum Träumen. Der Besuch des Visitor Centers und ein Spaziergang zwischen den Ruinen lohnt sich auf jeden Fall!
