Many of the streets in central BA converge on the Obelisco, The National Historic Monument of Argentina. This is the view from Av. Corrientes at Suipacha.
The city's most iconic landmark was built to mark the fourth centenary of the city's first foundation by Pedro de Mendoza in 1536.
The obelisk marks the spot where the Argentine national flag was raised in the city for the first time.
Construction began on March 20, 1936, and it was finished on May 23 of the same year.
