Piotra i Pawła w Cluny zostało założone w 910 r. Był to największy klasztor jaki zbudowano w Europie Zachodniej. Opactwo stało się autorytetem w Kościele, stanowił centrum ówczesnej myśli politycznej. W XII wieku klasztor w Cluny zaczął tracić na znaczeniu. W 1562 r. został splądrowany przez hugenotów. Podczas rewolucji francuskie opactwo zostało zamknięte, a w 1811 r. prawie w całości rozebrane. ** Benedictine Abbey of Sts. It was the largest monastery ever built in Western Europe. The abbey became an authority in the Church, a centre of political ideas of that time. In the 12th century Cluny started to lose its importance. In 1562 it was plundered by the huguenots. During the French Revolution the abbey was closed and in 1811 almost entirely demolished.
