The tower was reconstructed recently by a contractor for the local government of Baghdad. Two years ago the old building were demolished with the help of the US. Army corps of engineers. It is good to see this tower back up in Baghdad.
Before 2003, this tower was called SADDAM TOWER, this is nothing of a surprise, knowing that Saddam Hussain changed most of the names of the urban landmarks of Baghdad at his era (Including the Baghdad International Airport). Also, he managed to add hundreds of statues of himself in different costumes and positions. (All of which where demolished in the first few hours of the liberation of Baghdad).
